Uber appeal hearing confirmed
Uber has been granted leave to appeal against the ruling that its drivers should be treated as workers rather than self-employed. The appeal will be heard on 27th September, in which Uber will argue that its drivers in the UK are self employed and therefore not entitled to rights enjoyed by workers including holiday and sick pay.
The outcome of this case will be hugely significant for any employer which operates in the gig economy.
