Certificates: Solicitor, qualified in 1999
I am a member of the MLP Private Client department specialising in Mental Capacity Act and Court of Protection related matters.
I advise on a number of issues affecting learning disabled, brain injured, vulnerable and elderly clients including Court of Protection applications, advising and acting as attorney and deputy, LPA’s, advance decisions, deprivation of liberty and deprivation of assets issues, care home contracts, deferred payment agreements, adult safeguarding and community care disputes.
I also have a particular interest in issues relating to those who require residential or nursing home accommodation especially relating to care fee and estate planning and the availability of funding from the Local Authority and NHS. I also advise Care Home owners and managers on their regulatory and legal responsibilities, and regularly provide talks and seminars to care providers and carers.
Outside of work I am a Director of Trafford Healthwatch, a Trustee of Trafford Carers Centre and a Trustee for Emmaus South Manchester (a charity addressing issues of homelessness and social exclusion) as well as being mum to two very active children.
