Wills, Trusts and Probate Associate
Rachel is an Associate Solicitor in the Wills, Trusts and Probate Team at MLP Law.
Rachel has around 7 years’ experience of Wills, Trusts and Probate work. Rachel specialises in the administration of estates, including high value estates, estates with Wills containing trusts, intestate estates, estates containing business or agricultural assets, estates containing foreign assets or domicile issues and in administering estates where the beneficiaries are in conflict. Rachel also advises on Deeds of Variation, which are used to vary the terms of a Will, or of an intestacy.
Rachel also specialises in Wills and estate planning. This includes advising on straightforward Wills, Wills containing various types of trusts, protecting assets for vulnerable beneficiaries, the appointment of executors, the appointment of guardians, gifts of money or personal items made under a Will, the available reliefs and exemptions from Inheritance Tax, ways to effectively utilise all available reliefs and exemptions, preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney and setting up lifetime trusts.
Rachel also advises on the ongoing administration of trusts, the retirement of current trustees and the appointment of new trustees and changing the jurisdiction of a trust.
Rachel is hoping to become a fully qualified member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) in 2019. Rachel is currently part-qualified, having completed three out of the four specialist examinations required to become a fully qualified member of STEP. Rachel received the highest mark in the STEP Manchester branch for each of the three examinations she has taken so far.
In Rachel’s spare time, she enjoys travelling, going to the cinema and watching live music and comedy.
