Stephen is Head of MLP Law’s Real Estate and Built Environment team, which provides advice on all aspects of the law relating to commercial property, development and construction, regeneration, property joint ventures and dispute resolution in real estate and construction matters.

He has over 20 years’ experience of general commercial property matters with particular expertise in structuring and delivering complex commercial development and regeneration projects in the public, higher education and housing sectors.

Described by Legal 500 as “intellectual and entrepreneurial”, Stephen brings an insightful and energetic approach to delivering tailored solutions to the needs of the firm’s real estate clients.

Stephen was chair of Pro.Manchester’s regeneration and property group for over 12 years and is now a member of the property and regeneration steering committee for the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.  He is also Vice President of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and is an honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Stephen attended the University of Oxford and spent 5 years in the City of London before moving to Manchester in 1993, where he spent many years as a partner in one of Manchester’s leading commercial law firms.  During that time he chaired a number of high profile events focused on the role of the public and higher education sectors in regional economic growth.
