Lasting Power of Attorney Fees Are Rising

If you’ve been thinking about putting a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place but haven’t yet done so, now is the time to act. The government has announced that from 17 November 2025, the cost to register an LPA will increase from £82 to £92 per application.

That means registering both types of LPA (Property & Financial Affairs, and Health & Welfare) will cost £184 instead of £164 (an extra £20).

What Is an LPA and Why Do You Need One?

An LPA is a legal document that allows you to appoint people you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you are unable to do so in the future. There are two types:

• Property & Financial Affairs LPA – covers your money, property and financial decisions.
• Health & Welfare LPA – covers decisions about your health, care, and day-to-day life.
